BIO
Heather and Howard lived in the suburbs with their two children for over twenty five years. When their kids went off to university, this design savvy couple decided life needed some changes and moved to the city. With their passion for creativity and joy in hosting fabulous dinner parties, the now empty nesters began creating their dream space along with a few other exciting projects showcasing their flair for design.
The goal was to open up the space and make it bright. By reducing upper cabinets and opting for open shelving, the space appears larger and highlights the exposed brick wall. A new niche was created to house the appliances by moving the entryway to the kitchen - this allowed for tall and deep appliances to be tucked away providing a long run of much needed counter space. The inspiration for the appliance wall is to have the Chelsea High Gloss Grey cabinetry blend in seamlessly with the stainless-steel appliances keeping this wall clean and subtle, an interesting contrast to the more traditional cherry and painted cabinetry in the space. To further highlight the exposed brick wall and cooktop area we designed a custom hood with a mix of our Oyster painted finshed and a mirror finish with a stainless steel backsplash for a pop of interest.

A space designed with entertaining in mind, this kitchen provides the perfect atmosphere for hosting dinner parties. Designed using a combination of Manhattan and Lumina back painted glass in a dramatic palette of Crimson, Anthracite, Oyster and Pitch Black this space is truly the heart of this home. An illusion of a larger space is created with the full length wall of white panels and open glass shelves, with a touch of natural light from the front of the room. Intergrated appliances, including a stacked washer and dryer, blend seamlessly into the space without taking away from its exterior beauty.
When this 1800's home in trendy Yorkville needed a new lease on life, homeowners and familiar faces to AyA approached designer Amy Dillon for their next project. Using a colour blocking effect displaying Bedford Glazed Latte cabinets with sharp contrasting matte black knobs and pulls and Cumberland Distressed Black cabinetry dressed with glass pulls and knobs for drama and sparkle, this room combines a twist on classic elegance with a hint of contemporary and feels anything but ordinary!
